FARMING FOR THE ECOSYSTEM

Philly Forests is an 8 acre farm social enterprise that takes revenue from crop sales to operate our Urban Ecology Program where trees, shrubs, and perennial plants are purchased for free distribution to Philadelphia zip codes with the lowest tree-canopy.

Support Sustainable
Farming

Our Farm uses sustainable and regenerative growing practices to align with nature's way of producing food.

We utilize our ecosystem to enhance crop growth, highlighting natural fertilizers and compost for soil fortification, native plants and wildflowers for pollinator attraction (and great pest managers), and leaves or straw for natural mulch.

We hope to be your household's local farmer for 2023!

Diversify Philadelphia Ecosystem

In Philadelphia, you will notice that wealthier and white neighborhoods are very green with tree-lined streets, while lower-income, BIPOC-populated neighborhoods are bare with scorching summer sun.

At Philly Forests, we have a strong commitment to promoting environmental justice to Philadelphia residents in low canopy zip codes. To sustain trees and invite greater wildlife populations, we are adding tiers of shrubs and perennials to our inventory of over- & under- story trees.
